God created humans to be relational, and we need others to help us see how God is present in the ordinary moments of our lives. So whether it is over a cup of coffee or dinner, at a bible study or Taizé service, in prayer or laughter, we trust that as we share our lives honestly with each other God shares his grace with us and grows us as disciples of Jesus.
Of course, this doesn’t mean we don’t disappoint and hurt each other. But by continuing together we see how the ways God’s grace heals the wounds left behind by our brokenness and mistakes. And its too beautiful to miss.
Somethings We Do Regularly Together
- Thursday Study Group – This group is a rich place to ask deeper questions and explore issues of faith that help us grow both as individuals and as a community. We are currently reading through all the New Testament within a year together. Other things we have discussed together have been The Story of God, the Story of Us, sermons by Fleming Rutledge, and The Bible Project. This group meets at 7pm every Thursday, except during Advent and Lent when they adjust to 7:30pm for the Taizé service.
- Advent and Lent Taizé Services — Taizé is a contemplative prayer service that provides a space for us to slow down and rest in God’s care. This group meets every Thursday at 7pm during Advent and Lent.
- Community events – Through regular events ranging from Pancake Suppers to Bingo nights to concerts we gather to get to know each other and our wider community better.
Children & Families
Our Children’s Ministry is growing and we love to welcome new families. Our hope is that the children and youth among us will experience God’s care for them in our community and be nurtured as live-long disciples of Jesus Christ.
Each Sunday after the opening song and prayers, the children are called forward for a Children’s Talk after which they are brought to Sunday School. Of course, babies and children are always welcome to stay with their parents/guardians in the service.
Christ Church is blessed with a solid team of talented and committed Children’s Ministry teachers who are members of our church community. All have been screened and have completed police record checks.
